Empowering North Ogden Together

Fiscal Responsibility & Sustainable Growth Strategies
Zach believes in fiscal responsibility as a cornerstone of effective governance. By prioritizing smart budgeting and transparency, he aims to ensure that taxpayer dollars are utilized efficiently. He is committed to pursuing sustainable growth strategies that enhance the quality of life in North Ogden. He plans to explore creative ways to generate revenue without raising taxes excessively, ensuring that the city’s financial future remains secure. Strategies will include, but are not limited to:
✅ Utilizing grants and external funding such as RAMP, ARPA, and infrastructure funds.
✅ Enforcing existing fees and licenses, to include digitizing fee collection such as pet licensing etc.
✅ Reviewing developer impact fees to ensure the fees are appropriate in relation to the damage caused by heavy trucks and equipment on our roads.
✅ Attracting commercial developments along Washington Boulevard mostly, which will help generate more sales tax and put less burden on residents. North Ogden isn’t a pass-through city, which can make it less desirable to businesses. Zach would like to create an incentive and information packet to highlight our great city, offer incentives such as a discounted impact fee, and also streamline things like business licenses, etc. which we can send to businesses the residents have shown interest in.
Pro-Worker Initiatives
Zach advocates for pro-worker policies that prioritize local labor in city projects. By encouraging the use of union labor and local tradespeople, he aims to keep taxpayer dollars within the community, which promotes economic growth and stability. These initiatives will not only create jobs but also ensure that local workers receive fair wages and benefits. Zach believes that a strong workforce is the backbone of a thriving community, and he is dedicated to creating an environment where local workers can flourish. Some of his ideas include but are not limited to:
✅ Encouraging use of union labor and local tradespeople.
✅ Partnering with Ogden-Weber Tech College and unions for job pipelines.
✅ Hosting city-sponsored trades career nights and workshops.
✅ Include labor voices in city planning—appoint union members or tradespeople to city commissions and create pathways for working-class input on city growth.
✅ Review city hiring/contracting policies to ensure public safety, as well as worker safety, and decreased negative public impact.

Community and Family Values
Zach believes that North Ogden’s strength lies in its people—hardworking families, caring, neighbors, and a spirit of community that makes our city more than just a place to live. As your City Council representative, Zach will champion policies that protect our small-town values while preparing us for a stronger, more connected future. His vision for community and family support includes, but is not limited to:
✅ Expanding after-school and summer youth programs through city recreation to help working families and promote positive development.
✅ Invest in teacher-support (expanded on below).
✅ Review zoning ordinances for multigenerational living to ensure they allow flexibility and availability for residents.
✅ Protect open space & mountain views by balancing responsible growth with the preservation of natural beauty and outdoor spaces.
✅ Expand community events to include a farmer’s market and more events at the amphitheater.
✅ Supporting affordable housing options to ensure that teachers, young families, and the aging can afford to live in North Ogden—not just visit. Zach is open to high density housing, such as condos and/or twin homes, with resident input. Explore first-time home buyers programs such as one offered in Ogden City.
Support for Educators
Zach believes that teachers are the backbone of our community and the architects of our future. They don’t just educate—they inspire, nurture, and guide the next generation of North Ogden’s leaders. He is committed to supporting educators through meaningful partnerships, public recognition, and policies that make it easier for teachers to live and thrive in the community they serve. Zach will work to ensure North Ogden shows up for the people who show up for our kids every day. Some of his strategies/ideas include:
✅ Public recognition campaigns – spotlighting teachers on city social media and in newsletters, including ways to support such as classroom wishlists.
✅ Teacher appreciation mini-grants for classroom supplies.
✅ Traffic and safety improvements near schools where needed, such as new signage and speed enforcement near schools.
✅ Create a city-district liaison committee with Weber School District to coordinate on safety, development, and advocacy.
✅ Support resolutions for fair wages and smaller class sizes.
✅ Invite teacher union reps to city meetings when relevant development or safety issues arise.
